Maria Varner

Funeral services for Maria Varner, 58, of Baker, MT will be 11:00 a. m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at the American Lutheran Church, Baker, with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Burial will follow at Bonnievale Cemetery, Baker. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 8:00 p. m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, with a Prayer Service taking place at 6:00 p. m. Maria passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 30, 2012 while on vacation with her family in Orlando, FL. Maria Robinson was born September 10, 1954 in Baker, MT, the daughter of Earl C. (Jr. ) and Evelyn (Degrand) Robinson. She grew up and attended school in Baker, graduating from BHS in 1972. After school Maria worked for Gambles. On April 14, 1973, Maria married Bill Varner. The couple made their home in Baker where they raised their two children, Gye and Misti. In 1977, Bill and Maria started their own pipeline construction company, B&M Oilfield Service, which they operated for nearly 20 years. In 1995, they ventured into underground boring, operating Underground Boring Specialties. After Bill passed away in 2006, Maria continued to work in the business with their son Gye. Over the last 20 years she worked with Florence Groshons at the golf course and managed the Lakeview Country Club House for over 13 years. Together, Maria and Florence catered countless meals to the Baker community. Cooking holiday meals for her family was one of Maria’s greatest enjoyments. Maria was very outgoing and made many friends during her time at the golf course. she also enjoyed playing bridge every Wednesday. Maria loved spending time with her children and cherished every moment with her grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know this fine lady. Maria is survived by her son, Gye (Chayni) Varner and their daughters, Macy, Mallory and Megan of Baker, MT; daughter, Misti (Josh) Breitbach and their children Gracen, Carter and Mason of Baker, MT; special friend, Jerry Conrad; brothers, Chauncey Robinson of Great Falls, MT and Wink (Tawna) Robinson of Billings, MT; sisters, Lynne (Rollie) Miller and Rochelle (Kirk) Conroy of Baker, MT; mother-in-law, Alvina Varner of Baker; brothers-in-law, Fred (Debbi Jo) Varner and Dennis (Sherry) Varner of Baker; sisters-in-law, Raenette (Tom) Kendal, Cathy (Gerry) Bass of Edina, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; brothers, Dana and Carlos Robinson and her father-in-law, Herb Varner.
