Marie attended school in Belfield where she graduated high school in 1958. During and after high school, Marie held various jobs including working for a summer in Cooke City, MT, which she talked about often. Upon returning to Belfield, Marie married Emil Cerkoney on November 10, 1958, at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church. After living in Dickinson for 8 years with a growing family of 5 boys, they moved southeast of Dickinson to start a dairy farm. During her life on the farm, Marie greatly enjoyed her large gardens and flowers beds. During the summer months she and Emil enjoyed many fishing trips. During the winter months Marie busied herself with knitting and sewing. She prided herself in the many garments she made for herself and her family. In 1989, after selling their dairy farm, Emil and Marie tried their hand at refurbishing homes for resale before finally settling in Killdeer, ND. While living in Killdeer, Marie worked for Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing. She enjoyed her time working at KMM, where she took pride in her workmanship on aviation circuit boards for Boeing Airlines. Marie will be greatly missed by everyone she touched in her life. She will be remembered for her zest for life, spending time with friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She has found peace and comfort in heaven where she has been reunited with her best friend, the love of her live, Emil.
