Marie Hofer

Marie Hofer, 79, Dickinson, died Sunday, September 12, 2004, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services are 10:30 a. m. , Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with the Reverends Steven Tangen and Pat Higgins, officiating. Interment will be in Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be 2:30 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Marie Hofer was born June 18, 1925 in Hettinger, ND to John Mayer and Lizzie Jung. She was raised on a farm southeast of New England where she attended country school before moving to Mott. The family then moved back to New England. She married Albert Hofer on December 22, 1944 at Regent Lutheran Church. In 1965, she moved to Dickinson. She worked at various places, including St. Joseph?s Hospital, Ivanhoe Inn and the Paragon. Marie enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, playing cards with her grandchildren, word find books and spent special time with her family and grandchildren. Marie is survived by: four daughters, Darlene (Duane) McNary, Williston, ND, Diane (Gilbert) Novotny, Dickinson, ND, Shirley (Raymond) Heick, New England, ND, Laura (Ray) Praus, Dickinson, ND; six sons, Gary (Verleen) Hofer, Dickinson, ND, Leo (Charlene) Hofer, Dickinson, ND, Calvin (Jean) Hofer, Gladstone, ND, Rick (Darlene) Hofer, Gladstone, ND, Dale (Paulette) Hofer, Dickinson, ND, and Daryl (Toni) Hofer, Dickinson, ND; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther (Vern) Korth, Dickinson, ND, Grace (Floyd) Davenport, St. Anthony, ND, Delores (Hubert) Krenz, Dickinson, ND; three brothers, Mark (Ruby) Mayer, Bakersfield, CA, Herman Mayer, Anchorage, AK, Virgil (Dorothy) Mayer, Dickinson, ND. She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; one sister, three brothers, one daughter-in-law and one grandson.
