Funeral Mass for Antoinette Kessler, 93, of Belfield, ND will be at 10 a. m. , Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Belfield, ND with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard?s Cemetery, Belfield, ND. Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. , Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND and will continue from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield with a rosary and vigil service at 7 p. m. Antoinette passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 at St. Luke?s Home, Dickinson, ND. Marie Antoinette Sauvageau was born April 1, 1916 in Wild Rice, ND, south of Fargo to Arthur and Emma (Richard) Sauvageau. Antoinette was the youngest of 11 siblings. She grew up on the family farm southeast of Belfield and rode to school each day on the milk wagon. After finishing her schooling in Belfield, she helped her sister Rose for several years. Antoinette married Sam L. Kessler on June 28, 1938 at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Belfield. The couple lived and worked in Alexander, ND and Dickinson, ND until they moved to the Beaudoin ranch southeast of Belfield in 1941. They lived there for 25 years. In 1966 they moved to Medora and in 1975 they moved into Belfield, ND. Antoinette?s life was lived in devotion to her husband, children and church. Antoinette was a member of St. Theresa?s Guild, Catholic Daughters, Busy Bee Homemakers, Birthday Club and the Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, quilting, sewing and watching her grandchildren?s various activities, including 4-H. Antoinette is survived by her children, Nora Gawel, Belfield, ND, Cecilia (Bud) Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND, Charles (Connie) Kessler, Bismarck, AR, Raymond (Cathy) Kessler, Bowman, ND, James (Cindee) Kessler, Ross, ND, Margaret (Howard) Nelson, Fairfield, CA; 24 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; also a sister-in-law, Evelyn Lutgen, Glen Ullin, ND. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam; a grandson, Sheldon Gawel and all of her siblings. The Family suggests memorials to St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield or Belfield Senior Citizen Activities Club.
