Graveside Services for Marie (Rose) Poncelet, 99, of Spokane, Washington, formally of Ekalaka, Montana are 1:00 p. m. , Friday, March 24, 2006 at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka, Montana with Tom Stieg officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT. Marie passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Spokane, Washington. Marie was born the second child of eight to August and Dora (Teidemen) Rose on May 25, 1906 in Dodge, Nebraska. In 1908, the family moved to Colorado and then in 1914 to the chalk buttes area in Carter County where Marie attended many different country schools. On July 1, 1925, Marie married Peter Poncelet in Baker, Montana. They homesteaded in the chalk buttes area until 1954, when she and Pete moved to Spokane. This is where Marie stared her career as a nurse until she retired in 1968. After her retirement, she moved back o Ekalaka and made her home there until the summer of 1993 when she returned to Spokane to be close to her sister, Fran and brother, Bill. Marie never had any children of her own, but helped raise all of her many nieces and nephews, and they called her Antee Re. In Marie?s spare time she spent many hours knitting and crocheting many afghans to which she would give to her siblings, nieces and nephews. To her many nieces and nephews she was know as ?Antie Ree. ?She is survived by two sisters: Frances Lilienthal, Spokane, WA, Viola Perish, Lodi, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Pete; three brothers: Harry, Harold, and Bill, two sisters: Edna and Gladys.
