Marie Ridley

A Funeral Mass for Marie Ridley, 94, of Dickinson, ND will be 10:00 a. m. , CDT, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devils Lake, ND with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Devils Lake. Visitation for Marie will be from 1:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Monday, March 21, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary and prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Marie passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Marie Burkhard was born November 12, 1921 in Fulda, ND, the daughter of Anton and Katherine (Miltenburger) Burkhard. She grew up and attended grade school at Isabel Township School. She attended two years of high school before she was taken out to care for her family members. On March 4, 1946, Marie and Arthur Ridley were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devils Lake. To this union five children were born: Jerry, Jim, John, Judy and Jean. Together, the couple raised their family in Crary, ND. In the early 1980’s, the couple moved to Devils Lake. After Art passed away, Marie moved to Dickinson in 2001. Marie was a busy lady. While living in Crary and Devils Lake, Marie was involved in the Homemakers Club, St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers, and the PTA, making syrup for pancake suppers. Marie kept busy cleaning home and painting crafts. After her move to Dickinson, she was involved in RSVP, playing cards and Bingo. Marie loved everyone involved in Northland PACE. Marie is survived by her sons, Jim (Rosemary) of Bismarck, and John (Margaret) of Dickinson; daughters, Judy (Don) Mattheis of Dickinson, and Jean (Robert) Blair of Neche; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Burkhard of Devils Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Katherine Burkhard; husband, Art; son, Jerry; brothers, John and Mike Burkhard; sisters, Anna Kurtz, Lena Volk, Barbara Scherr, and Helen Streifel.
