Visitation for Marilyn Mae Roller, 79, of Richardton will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson.
Marilyn passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.
Marilyn Mae Holiday was born October 25, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, daughter of Leo Fredrick and Mame (Johnson) Holiday. She grew up and graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee. In her early years, Marilyn enjoyed her volunteer work; one of the first jobs was a Pink Lady. With her volunteer work, she continued being a housewife and mother. Marilyn moved to California and began working for the USO as an entertainer. It was during this time that she met Norbert Roller who was stationed in the United States Navy. After Norbert’s discharge, the young couple moved back to Milwaukee where they were married. To this union, three children were born: Mark, Norbert D. and Kathy. Marilyn enjoyed her time at home taking care of her husband and children as well as working for the Hamilton School District with the School Lunch Program. Her hobbies included collecting handbags; taking care of children which included her grandchildren; playing piano and the organ; and watching T. V. , her favorites being “General Hospital” and “Montell with Sylvia Brown”. Even after suffering a serious stroke, Marilyn kept up with her hobbies.
Marilyn is survived by two sons, Mark Leo and Norbert David both of Richardton; one daughter, Kathy Marie Marchart of Brookfield, WI; one brother, Art Holiday of California; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mame Holiday; her husband of 48 years, Norbert; one sister, Bonnie June Holiday; and one brother Bob Holiday.
