Funeral Services for Marine Clara Helgerson, 84, of Baker will be 11:00 am, Monday, April 11, 2005 at the American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastor Bruce Kolasch officiating. Burial will follow in the Bonnievale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 10, 2005 from 10:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Prayer Service being held at 5:00 p. m. Marine, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Marine was born April 26, 1920 in Watauga, South Dakota the daughter of John and Renna (Kruger) Afrank. She grew up and attended schools in the Watauga area, graduating from Brown County High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Marine attended Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in country schools until 1949. On December 27, 1949 Marine was married to Russell Helgerson in Aberdeen, South Dakota. They moved several times with Russ? work before settling at Baker in1951 where they raised their family and lived since that time. Over the years, Marine always took care of raising their kids and keeping up with the home. She was an avid bowler, taking 1st place in the State Bowling Tournament. She was an active member of the American Lutheran Church and a leader in Cub Scouts. Marine loved the outdoors, camping, dancing, playing bridge and pinochle, sewing, knitting and doing crafts, having coffee and being with her friends. Marine?s special love was for her husband, children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Russell of Baker; three daughters: Daune Scott, Denver, CO, Julee Morrison, Baker, Alita (Terry) Olsen, Littleton, CO; five grandchildren: Randy, John, Troy, Anglia and Alison; four great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Michael, Loren and Samantha. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rodney, one son-in-law, four brothers and four sisters.
