Marjorie passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson.

Marjorie Ann, the daughter of Joseph and Edith (Merril) Dardis, was delivered by midwife, Grandma Merril, on a farm near Grassy Butte on January 6, 1931. Growing up, she attended the country grade school.  At the age of 12, she moved with her parents to St. Helens, Oregon where she graduated from Roosevelt High in North Portland, OR.  Following graduation, she moved back to Dickinson and began attending Teacher’s College in Dickinson.  Her first teaching assignment was for a grade school north of Manning.  Marjorie became the bride of Harold Hanson on October 19, 1951 in Killdeer.  Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Cathy and Peggy. Together they farmed and raised their girls southwest of Killdeer. Marjorie was known as one of the Gamble Ladies because she clerked at the Gambles Store for many years.   She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. John Church where she was a very active member of St. John Women’s Circle.  Marjorie loved her grandchildren dearly and watched them often. She opened up the rockhouse to anyone, and made it a home to many. She will be a memory carried in our hearts forever.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Bob) Larsen of Dunn Center, Peggy (Toby) Stroh of Dickinson; sisters, Bette Granfor and Mae Larson of Scappoose, OR and Una Taylor of Vancouver, WA. Along with five grandchildren: Lance (Christy) Larsen, Reid Larsen, Alyssa, Breanna and Christina Stroh; four great-grandchildren, Dane, Steena and Ean Larsen, and J’hane Davidson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edith Dardis; husband, Harold; sisters, Ione Williams and Rosella Hatzenbuler; brother, Leo Dardis.
