Marjorie passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem.

Marjorie Gail was born the daughter of Lawrence and Grace (Jacobsen) Nelson on November 6, 1914, in Ceylon, MN. Until her dad returned from the US Navy in 1918, she and her mother lived with her grandparents and also in her mother’s homestead shack in Grant County. She grew up in Almont where she attended school. Her family later moved to Mott where she attended her senior year. Following her father’s death that same year, the family moved back to Almont to live on the family farm with Grandma Jacobsen and Uncle Harry. Margie married Sigurd “Sig” Peterson on June 13, 1937, in Almont Lutheran Church. Together they lived in the Almont area all of their 70 years of marriage. She was Sig’s right-hand gal and the love of his life. Together they adopted two children, Bruce and Mary. Bruce passed away in 1974 and Mary presently lives in Kansas. Family was always very important to Margie, as was her church, music, community and her Scandinavian heritage. She has touched many lives in all of these areas.

Thank you Margie for making a difference in this world. You were loved by many.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Mary Harrelson of Kansas; sister, Audrey Olson of Williston, ND; and many loved nieces, nephews and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Grace Nelson; husband, Sigurd “Sig”; son, Bruce; brother, John Burton Nelson; and sister, Frances Rusch.
