Memorial services for Marjorie J. Walters, 85, of Lake City, MN, formerly of Dickinson, ND will be 11:00 a. m. Monday, August 20, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND. Burial will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. Monday, August 20, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Marjorie passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the Lake City Nursing Home, Lake City, MN. Marjorie was born August 7, 1922 in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Edward & Tekla (Peterson) Kronschnabel. She attended school in Dodge, Linton, & Bismarck, North Dakota. She graduated from Killdeer, North Dakota in 1940. Received a BE Degree from State Teachers Collage in Dickinson, North Dakota in 1946. During WW II she and a girlfriend went to Portland, Oregon where they worked in the shipyards as (?Rosie the Riveters?) until the end of the war. She then taught in N. D and MN for several years before moving to California where she taught English & Social Studies in Santa Maria & Modesto, California. Marjorie especially enjoyed teaching the gifted students & taking many trips with the students. She retired in 1979 and moved back to Dickinson, ND in the early 1980?s. She was active in the Hospital auxiliary there and did a lot of volunteer work. Marjorie was an accomplished quilter & cross stitcher. She worked with the quilters at the church and made baby quilts for all her great nieces & nephews. During the early 80?s she was active politically & was elected twice to the ?Silver Haired Assembly? a group of seniors who held fake legislative sessions at the state capital in Bismarck to discuss issues of interest & make recommendations to the real legislature. Marjorie is survived by two sisters, Carol (Linden) Iverson of Lake City, Joyce Schnell of Oakview, California; one brother George (Marge) Kronschnabel of Casper, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Audrey Fischer & Eunice Kronschnabel. Memorials are preferred to the Lake City Nursing Home.
