A Celebration of Life Service for Mark J. Burch, 56, of Ekalaka, MT will be 2:00 p. m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT. A reception will follow at the Church of Hank Williams in Ekalaka and the public is invited to attend. Mark passed away on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2011, at his ranch home south east of Ekalaka following a one year battle with cancer. Mark J, Burch was born in Ekalaka, MT on December 21, 1954, a son of Ellis F. and Josephine Marie (Johnston) Burch. He was the eighth of nine children born to Ellis and Jo. Mark grew up on the Burch Ranch south east of Ekalaka. He attended Ekalaka Schools, graduating from Carter County High School During his high school years, Mark participated in sports, and still holds the school record in the Pole Vault. Following graduation, Mark worked on the Burch Ranch until the late 1980?s when a job offer he couldn?t resist took him to Casa Grande, AZ to work on the John Wayne Ranch. This was a job Mark was proud of. Eventually Mark returned to the Burch ranch where he has made his home since. Mark was a good stockman, horseman and photographer. He loved to fish and woodworking. Mark was a member of the Ekalaka Track and Arena. Those left to morn his passing is his longtime best friend and wife, Brenda Fazekas, Ekalaka; his daughter, Drake Leigh Burch, Ekalaka; two sons, Zane Robert (Jessica) Burch, Bozeman, MT and Kyle Flecher Burch, Billings; a grandson, Leo Drain Burch; three brothers, Harold R. Burch, Ekalaka, MT, Richard A. Burch, Belle Fourche, SD and Don E. (Eva) Burch, Fort Collins, CO; two sisters, Myrna (Garth) Tooke and Linda (Kelly) Ziettlow both of Ekalaka, MT and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
