Funeral service for Marles Irene Tschaekofske of Bismarck formerly of Halliday will be at 11 a. m. MST, Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Halliday with Pastor Joel Sauerwein officiating. Burial will be in the Halliday Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 pm to 9 pm, Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND. A Prayer Service will be held 7:00 pm. MST, with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Halliday. Marles passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Baptist Home in Bismarck. Marles Irene Nodland was born on November 3, 1929 the daughter of Gonvald and Louise Nodland in rural Dunn County. She grew up and attended Dunn Center School graduating from High School in 1947. Marles taught country school in Dunn County for five years. Marles was married to Herbert Tschaekofske at the Vang Lutheran Church in a double ceremony with her sister Florence. Herbert and Marles lived on a farm near Halliday where they raised their family. She worked as a Home Health Aide for Dunn County Social Services for 22 years. Marles had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and used her gifts to teach many Bible Studies and Sunday school. She also served as Sunday school superintendent and participated in the Gideons auxiliary. She was a member and held numerous offices for the ALCW and WELCA. Marles enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and baking. Marles loved to prepare meals and desserts for company. She is survived by her husband, Herbert of 56 years; two sons, Larry (Nancy) Tschaekofske, Stillwater, MN and Loran (Cheryl) Tschaekofske, St. Cloud, MN; a daughter, Myra Keeler, Bismarck, ND; three sisters, Grace Zastoupil, Dickinson, ND, Florence (Gordon) Kucera Bismarck, ND and Rose Marie (Glenn) Nickel, Dickinson, ND; a brother, George (Kayleen) Nodland, Dickinson; an aunt Ruby (Paul) Paulson, Dickinson, ND; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Arleen Thorstad and Rosella Hauck and a son-in-law Tom Keeler. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials for the Gideons, PO Box 1462, Dickinson, ND. A special thank-you to the Staff of St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson and the Baptist Home in Bismarck for caring for my wife and our mother.
