Marlys “Marley” Abraham, 65, passed away on December 3, 2020 at her home in Dickinson, ND.
Marlys was born on August 9, 1955 in Beach, ND to Harold and Edie Abraham. She was raised on the farm and educated at Bonnie View and Lapla School for the first 8 grades and graduated from Beach High School in 1974.
Marley worked part time at Skelly Truck Stop after school. She took home-ec in high school and learned how to sew. She sewed some of her own clothes and then got a job sewing draperies for a furniture store. Marley enjoyed driving a tractor in the fields to help her dad and driving truck to haul grain during harvest. She got a job hauling grain for a neighbor during harvest.
Marley went on to attend school of cosmetology in Bismarck, ND. When she finished she worked in a beauty shop in Dickinson, ND. She loved giving free haircuts to her family and her nieces and nephews when she came home on weekends. Marley began having health problems and had a hip replacement in Fargo, ND. She lived in New Horizons in Fargo. A friend of Marley’s was looking for a home for her puppy at the time. Marley fell in love with the 8 month old puppy and adopted her and they were constant companions. She named her Maggie and loved her dearly.
Marley’s sister, Mary Wang, lived in Bemidji, MN and worked as an RN. She wanted to help Marley so she helped her move to Bemidji. She lived in their home until Mary found an assisted living place for her.
Marley always loved doing all kinds of crafts. When she didn’t have a job she made many nice things using plastic canvas and beautiful pained butterflies using plastic bottles. She sold some and gave many away for gifts.
In 2016 Marlys moved back to Beach to be close to her mother and other relatives. She and Maggie visited at the Manor many times and made many friends there.
Marley is survived by her mother, Edie Abraham of Beach, ND; sisters, Mary (Tim) Wang of Bemidji, MN, Judy Abraham of Sturgis, ND, and Beverly Baumstarck of Worland, WY; brothers, John (Dixie) Abraham of Beach, ND, and Marvin (Arlene) Abraham of Bismarck, ND; special friend, Helen Gentile of Dickinson, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Abraham in 1991; nephew, Kyle Baumstarck; brother-in-law, Conrad Baumstarck; grandparents, John and Helen Begger and Olaf and Charlotte Abraham; her beloved dog Maggie; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins
