Martha Eileen was born in Dickinson on January 9, 1942, the daughter of Laudie P. and Bessie (Privratsky) Kadrmas. While growing up on the family farm south of Killdeer, she attended country school. Martha later graduated from Dickinson High School where she had met her future husband, Julius Dukart. On April 26, 1960, Martha and Julius were married at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Tim, Tom and Randy. In her early years, Martha worked at the Ray Hotel and Sweetheart Bakery. Through the years she faithfully did the bookwork for Julius’ business. Martha later shared her talent in the kitchen as a cook for several different Dickinson public schools. She was a great cook and baker and her grandchildren were blessed with ‘baking days with grandma’. Christmas was a special time of year for Martha, baking caramel rolls with the grandkids. She will always be remembered for her lavish holiday meals especially her homemade dumplings. Martha and Julius enjoyed traveling and spending most of their time with the grandkids and great-grandkids. She was fond of music and she sang along with her Dad and brothers as they played button accordion. Martha enjoyed dancing to Old Time Music and enjoyed teaching all her grandchildren how to polka dance. Gardening, collecting Beanie Babies and Christmas décor along with going for coffee with her friends were some of her favorite pastimes. Martha will be forever loved and dearly missed.
