Martha Meduna

A Funeral Mass for Martha Meduna, 92, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in South Heart with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.


Visitation for Martha will be 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Monday, October 7th at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 7:00 p. m.


Martha passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.


Martha Rambousek was born March 3, 1921 on the family farm north of South Heart, the daughter of Wenzel and Julia (Luptak) Rambousek. She grew up and attended New Castle School through the eighth grade. Martha lived on the farm until she was married. On October 16, 1949, Martha and Louie Meduna were united in marriage in New Hradec, ND. To this union three children, Elaine, Darlene and Gary were born. Martha and Louie moved to a farm west of South Heart where Martha helped with the farming. She also helped out the neighbors. Martha worked at St. Charles Hotel, later working for the Soil Conservation and doing volunteer work around Dickinson. She was also known as the ‘Avon Lady’ for nine years and she was active in a Homemakers Club. Louie passed away in 1976, and in 1983 Martha purchased her home in Dickinson, where she has lived since. After retiring from working, Martha kept busy with her gardens, house cleaning and volunteer work. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, neighbors and family. She sewed many quilts and enjoyed playing cards and baking. Martha is a lifetime Catholic Daughter of South Heart and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.


Martha is survived by her son, Gary (Barb) Meduna of South Heart; 10 grandchildren, Chad (Deanna) Muth, Kim (Shawn) Berger, Carey (Lacey) Muth, Kristen Muth, Brandon Muth, Nathan Cromer, Brandie Cromer, Melisa (Lance) Knittel, Melody (David) Garner, Tyler (Taryn Jo Hauso-special friend) Meduna; 10 great-grandchildren, Braylon and Makenna Muth, Myranda and Nathan Muth, Jaren and Jada Berger, Paxton and Carson Knittel, (twins) Louie and Henry Garner; one great-great-grandson, Landry Elmer; two sisters, Elsie (Leonard) Dvorak of Dickinson; and Amelia Dvorak of Vaughn, WA; brother-in-law, Jerry (Frances) Meduna of Dickinson; and sister-in-law, Beatrice Rambousek of Dickinson.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Wenzel and Julia Rambousek; husband, Louie Meduna; daughters, Elaine Muth and Darlene Cromer; grandson, Cory Muth; brother, Emil Rambousek; infant brother, Louie; son-in-law, Robert Muth; two sisters, Mary Steffan and Mildred Polensky; brothers-in-law, Bill Steffan, Adolph Polensky and Richard Dvorak.
