Martin Navratil

Funeral Mass for Martin John Navratil, 65, of Glen Ullin will be 10:00 a. m. CST, Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery later this spring. Visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. CST, Friday, January 21, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. CST. Martin passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Martin John Navratil was born July 23, 1945, the son of John and Rose (Geck) Navratil. He grew up in Glen Ullin, attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and graduated from Glen Ullin High School. After high school, Martin farmed a couple of years with his dad and went on to attend Wahpeton School of Science, graduating with a degree in Auto Mechanics and Parts Management. He then went to work as a parts salesman at Hedahl?s in Bismarck and Mandan for 15 years. He returned to his hometown of Glen Ullin and was employed by the Rick Filibeck Farm & Ranch for nearly 25 years. Martin was a skilled handyman. He was able to work on a variety things from automotive, tractor mechanics, woodworking and electrical work. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings Football Team. Martin?s favorite two sports where snow and water skiing. Lake Tschida was his favorite place to spend time on the boat and water skiing. His greatest pride and joy was his 1969 Chevy Malibu which he spent many hours restoring to its original condition. Martin is survived by a sister-in-law, Sandy Navratil, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Rose; his brother Larry, his sister Diane and one nephew, Jason Navratil.
