A Graveside Service for Martin O?Connor, 78, of Baker, MT will be 2:00 p. m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. John?s Catholic Cemetery at Baker, MT with full Military Rites by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35 and the Montana National Guard Honor Guard. Martin passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Fallon County Medical Complex Long Term Care Center. Martin James O?Connor was born July 29, 1933 in Baker, MT, the son of James John and Francis Mary (Gleason) O?Connor. He grew up on the O?Connor Ranch in the 101 Community and attended Hidden Water Country School. He later attended Baker High School and graduated in 1951. Following his graduation from high school, Martin began working in the oilfield for a couple of years. In January of 1954, Martin enlisted in the U. S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. While stationed at Ft. Lewis, he met Wynona June Bennett. Martin and Wynona were united in marriage on November 7, 1959. After his discharge from the Army in 1955, Martin returned to work on the O?Connor Ranch. He eventually took over managing the ranch and began raising Hereford cattle and small grains. In 2009, Martin retired from ranching and moved into town. Martin enjoyed reading and keeping up on current events. He was proud to have been a part of the Class of 1951 float in the 2011 Fallon County Fair parade. Martin was a member of the Baker American Legion and St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker. Martin is survived by two sons, Tim and his wife Lisa of San Antonio, TX and their children, Rebecca, Laura, and Patrick; and Garry of Miles City, MT and his children, Natasha, Samantha, and Payton; two daughters, Kathleen M. Caruso and her husband, Brad of Miles City, MT and their children, Courtney and Annamarie, and Carol J. Williams and her husband, Marty of Mitchell, NE and their children Terrence and Whitney.
