Martin W. Setinc, 86, of Billings, formerly of Baker, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the St. Vincent?s Health Care in Billings. He was born July 10, 1916 at Bear Creek, MT, the son of Martin C. and Magdolina M. (Motich) Setinc. Martin grew up and attended school at Mill Iron. He joined the 3 C?s at the age of 16 before going to work on the Fort Peck Dam. Martin enlisted into the US Army at Butte, MT in 1940. He served in several WW II campaigns and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged at Fort Lewis, WA in 1945. In 1946, Martin married Gwen Seeley at Baker. They then moved to the family place at Mill Iron. Shortly there after, they moved to Baker to raise their family. Martin was employed with MDU for many years until his retirement in the 1978. In 1956, they purchased the Kit Kat and later in 1979, the Tavern. Martin and Gwen divorced in 1991. They then sold the Tavern to daughter Pam and her husband Tom Owens. Martin eventually moved to Billings to make his final home. He enjoyed time spent with Helen and especially the trips to Deadwood and Jackpot. He loved fishing, hunting, cards, and golfing. Martin is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Harry and James Setinc, Andy, John, and Joe Andolshek; and two sisters, Mary Setinc and Katie Reese, niece, Evelyn Buck. He is survived by his three sons: Craig (Brenda) Setinc of Ridgecrest, CA, Robert (Jodi) Schweigert of Kalispell and Kenneth (Bev Peterson) Schweigert of Whitefish; two daughters: Sharon (Arnold) Uecker of Billings and Pam (Tom) Owens of Baker and their mother, Gwen Setinc of Baker; special friend, Helen Uribe of Billings; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two nieces: Mary (Randy) Smith of Ekalaka and Dorothy (Lyle) Neary of Baker; and a nephew, Marvin (Shirley) Reese of Helena. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at 7 PM at the Stevenson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, May 8, at 10 AM at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. A luncheon will be served following the service at the Tavern Banquet room. Burial will be at the Beaverlodge Cemetery in Ekalaka after the meal. Visitation hours will begin on Wednesday, May 7, from 8 AM until 9 PM at the Stevenson Funeral Home. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www. stevensonfuneralhome. com.
