A Graveside Inurnment for Marvin L. Ringen, 86, of Miles City, MT formerly of Plevna, MT will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at St. Anthony?s Catholic Cemetery at Plevna with the Reverend Father Thomas Tobin officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35. Marvin passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009, at the Miles City Veteran?s Affairs Care Center. In honoring Marvin?s wishes, cremation has taken place. Marvin Lyle Ringen was born on July 26, 1923, a son of Fred and Bessie (Good) Ringen at Fulton, SD. Marvin grew at Fulton where he attended school. At the young age of 16, Marvin ventured out into the world on his own as a truck driver, and eventually moved to Plevna, MT where he lived with his grandparents and other relatives while he worked as a janitor at the Plevna school. In 1946, Marvin joined the Untied States Army and was Honorable Discharged in 1947. Following his discharge, Marvin worked road construction and also in the oilfields in North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. Marvin met Catherine Eleanor Ott of Belfield, ND, and the two were married in Greybull, WY on January 18, 1953. To this union, Daniel W. and Carmie L. were born. The family lived in Upton, WY. While working in the oilfield, Marvin was seriously injured in an accident. Marvin was told he would never walk again. Through his perseverance, he was able to prove the doctors wrong. Following his accident, he was diagnosed with MS. In June of 1969, Marvin and his family moved to Plevna where he worked for various ranchers. While living at Plevna, Catherine passed away in 1971, and Daniel passed away in 1982. In the early 1980?s, Marvin moved to Miles City where he made his home. While in Miles City, Marvin met and married Lealta Ferrell. In 1994, Marvin entered the Miles City Veteran?s Care Center. Marvin was a hard worker, and played hard as well. He enjoyed playing cards and accepted life as it was dealt to him. He was known as ?Mr. Fix It?; as long as he had a pair of pliers, a wrench, tape and his ?Gizmo? he could take care of it! In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with little children and his grandchildren. Marvin is survived by his daughter, Carmie (Larry) Steffes, Plevna, MT; three grandchildren, Chadd Steffes, Plevna, MT, Stephanie Steffes, Brookings, SD and Shawnna Steffes, Plevna, MT; two sisters, Gladys Kessler, Mitchell, SD and Mabel Daniel, Las Vegas, NV; his brother, Earl Ringen , Glendive, MT and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Ringen, Sioux Falls, SD and Ann Ringen, Butterfield, MN. Marvin?s parents, Fred and Bessie, his two wives, Catherine and Lealta, his son, Daniel, two sisters, Lela Davidson and Ruby Webber, and four brothers, Russell Ringen, Dale Ringen, Don Ringen and Ira Ringen preceded him in death.
