Funeral Mass for Mary Agostini, 91, of Dickinson will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Gene Lindemann celebrating. Burial will follow at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Dickinson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mary passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.
Mary was born March 20, 1927 to Emanuele and Agatha (Lupo) Agostini in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, ND. She grew up in Dickinson, attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Dickinson High School. She graduated from the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minnesota with a B.A. degree in Music and a minor in English and Philosophy. She took graduate classes from the University of Mary; DSU; NDSU and UND.
Mary taught in grades 2, 3, 4 and high school music in Bismarck, Mandan, Glen Ullin, Tioga and at St. Patrick’s in Dickinson. She also directed the church choir. In 1979, she became CCD Coordinator for all the Catholic Parishes in Dickinson.
St. Patrick’s Church was very important to her. She became active in helping in various committees such as Vocation Committee, Worship Committee and Liturgy Committee. Also, she was on the Education Committee. She was Eucharistic Minister and Lector/Commentator. Later, she was a member of the People of Praise, Eucharistic Adoration, Cursillo, and the Prayer Chain. She was a past Regent of the Catholic Daughters.
Mary enjoyed music, jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, adult coloring books, and helping teachers prepare materials for school whenever possible. Mary’s true passion was in giving to others. Her unselfish generosity of heart and soul was clearly present up to the last moments of her life. She touched so many lives by serving others with a joyful heart because of her great love for God and His people. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Mary was especially grateful to her special cousins, JoLynn and Kent Pelton and family; Lori and Dr. Nordby, Daniel Lupo, her many friends, especially her adopotive children; Arlen and Dickie Jo Kubas, Carson and Mary Steiner, and Kayla (Steiner) Kyriaco; Vernon and Joan Metz; Marleen Schnaidt; Mary Margaret Wolf, George and Sandra Petermann, and all who cared so much for her.
She is especially appreciative of Dr. Dennis Wolf and all the doctors and what they did for her health for so many years.
Mary is survived by cousins, many friends, and care takers from St. Benedict’s Health Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Olive, an infant brother and grandparents.
