Mary passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.

Mary was born on December 26, 1919 in Stark County, the daughter of Joseph V. and Mary (Kraft) Faulhaber. As a child, she lived sixteen miles south of Taylor and attended school in Aurora through the fifth grade. Mary moved to Dickinson in 1938 and worked for Dr. Sam Chernesek from 1938 until 1940. She had fond and lasting memories of her first job and the family she cared for. For 36 years, she worked for café’s which included Messer’s Café, Villard Hotel, St. Charles Hotel, City Café, and for eight years at West Plains Motel for Don Larson. She was also a banquet hostess for the Interstate Inn in her later years. Mary was happily married to Henry J. Bren on August 21, 1961. She lost her husband and best friend in 2000. In 2009, Mary chose to move from her beloved home to Evergreen.

Evergreen quickly became her new home and family. B-I-N-G-O was her game of choice although she “never won”. She resided at Evergreen for eight years and was truly BLESSED having the Evergreen family being part of her life. Due to failing health, she entered St. Benedict’s Health Center in March of 2017.

Mary was a member of German-Hungarian Lodge and German Lundsliete. She loved to dance, loved horses (The Taylor Horse Fest) and was a great German cook. Mary’s continuous smile and giggle (that came clear from her toes) was a priceless gift that she left her children and grandchildren. All who knew her commented on the smile that was there until the last hour.

Mary is survived by her son, Robert (Lori) Faulhaber of Dickinson, ND; daughter Marcie Haigh of Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren: Kristina (Takamitsu) Kuroiwa Rapid City, SD, Pamela Faulhaber, Minot, ND, Molly (Trygve) Nystuen, Plymouth MN, Brendan (Susan) Haigh, Tacoma WA and Kieran Haigh Portland OR; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Faulhaber; husband, Henry (2000); brothers, Tony (Veronica Bosch) Faulhaber, Joe (Matillda Bosch) Faulhaber, Frank R. Faulhaber, Nick Faulhaber and two brothers in infancy; sisters, Eva Faulhaber Treib, Rose Faulhaber (Bayer) Collins, Katherine Faulhaber Keller, Johanna Faulhaber Hoselton.
