Mary Emter, 90 of Glen Ullin died Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Central Time on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Arul Joseph as Celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, at the church with the wake service at 7:00 PM. Mary was born January 19, 1918 near Glen Ullin, the daughter of John and Eva (Rastovsky) Kobilansky. She was raised and educated near Glen Ullin. She helped on the farm until November 18, 1944 when she married Ed Emter at St. Mary?s in Bismarck. Following marriage they moved to Spokane for several years. When they returned to North Dakota they farmed for a few years then moved into Glen Ullin. Following Ed?s heart attack Mary worked as a cook at the school and as a nurse?s aid at Marian Manor for several years, and baked for two local restaurants. After she retired she helped Ed run the bait shop. Mary was a longtime member of the Christian Mothers, and will be remembered for her cooking and baking skills. Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughter Mary Ann (Allan) Weiand, of Wahpeton, ND, and her two sons: Douglas, Glen Ullin, and Mark (LaRonna), Bismarck, ND; five grandchildren Allan, Jr. , Dr. Tammy Weiand Ness, Jessica Schuler, Derek Emter and Travis Emter, and 4 great grandchildren; and her brother, Peter Kobilansky, Glen Ullin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, two sisters, Josephine and Stella, three brothers, Vincent, Frank, and Anton.
