Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ficek, 92, of Dickinson will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Jim Bratten celebrating Burial to follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service at 7 p.m. Mary passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson, ND Mary Kubas was born March 20, 1916, the daughter of John and Agnes (Ridl) Kubas. She attended school in New Hradec, ND. On October 3, 1933, she married Henry Ficek. They lived on a farm in the New Hradec area for a number of years. In 1947, they moved to a farm northeast of Dickinson. Mary loved to play Canasta, sew quilts, grow dahlias and bake breads. Mom, we will miss all the ethnic dishes such as Borscht, Drobeni, Fatimunds, Kapanki, Cream Kuchen, Slitek, Knedlicky and Vareniky, homemade noodles in your chicken soup, warm spudnuts dipped in sugar, cinnamon rolls, Kolache?s. Also, we will miss all the wonderful canned fruit and vegetables from her garden especially the raspberries. Thank you mom for sewing quilts for all of us and the grandchildren, you will remain in our hearts forever. Mary is survived by: six sons and three daughters, Irene Kostenko, Dickinson, ND, Edith (Tom) Decker, Billings, MT, Gil (Marge) Ficek, Billings, MT, Alice (Edward) Binstock, Columbus, MT, Don (Helen) Ficek, Beaver Dam, WI, Ray (Tina) Ficek, New England, ND, Clarence (Linda) Ficek, Tampa, FL, Alvin (Shirley) Ficek, Rapid City, S.D. and Ken (Jayne)Ficek, Prescott, AZ.; 27 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Vince Kubas, Big Fork, MT and Bill Kubas, Altoona, WI; sister-in-law, Kaye Kubas, Maryland . She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Agnes Kubas; husband, Henry; daughter, Georgia; step mother, Teresa Dvorak; sisters and brothers, Robert Kubas, Peter Kubas, Julia Fendrick, Henry Kubas and Clara Jones and one grandson, Randy Ficek, son-in-law, Ludwig Hondl.
