Mary K. Irion

A Funeral Liturgy for Mary Irion, 79, of Dickinson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation for Mary will be an hour prior to the service.

Mary passed away Saturday, March 12, 2025 at St. Benedict’s Health in Dickinson.

Mary was born on September 22, 1945 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Andrew and Katherine (Reisenauer) Sutton. When Mary was six she moved with her family to Greenwood, Missouri where she attended grade school. In 1954 the family moved to Dickinson, North Dakota. Mary graduated from Dickinson High School in 1965.

After graduation, Mary worked for various jobs such as St. Luke’s Nursing home, Ivanhoe Café, Dickinson Laundry, and Baker Boy. Her favorite job was spent at home decorating cakes for over 17 years. She was known for her ability to design custom cakes that everyone loved.

Mary married Marvin Roger Irion on April 20, 1970 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. The couple was blessed with two sons, Michael and Mark.

Mary loved all animals, cookbooks, traveling, photography, auction sales, and especially her sons.

Mary is survived by her sons, Michael Irion of Dickinson, ND, and Mark Irion of Kulm, ND; and her cousin and longtime friend, Renae Heidt of Dickinson; and numerous friends, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Katherine; and her husband, Marvin Irion.

In lieu of flowers, Mary wanted memorials to be sent to an animal shelter of your choice, St. Jude’s, Shriners, or Make a Wish Foundation.
