Mary Kirschman, 94, New England, died Saturday, October 28, 2006, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Mott. Funeral services will be 10:30 a. m. Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England. Interment will be in Rainy Butte Lutheran Cemetery, rural New England. Visitation with a closed casket will be Monday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 12 noon to 8 p. m. with a prayer service at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Mary Olivia Gutensohn was the daughter of Theodore and Imogene (Oehler) Gutensohn, born on March 16, 1912 at their farm home in Strehlow Township in rural Hettinger County approximately 11 miles southeast of New England, North Dakota. She attended rural schools in Strehlow township and graduated from New England High School in 1930. Mary taught school for several years prior to her marriage, and later worked in several stores in New England. On March 16, 1937, she married Edward Kirschman. They lived on a farm near Mary?s parent?s home, where they raised their two children and farmed for a number of years. They lived on their farm until 1977 when they retired and moved to New England. Mary was an active member of Rainy Butte Lutheran Church for many years and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in more recent years. She was a member of Martha Circle, Hettinger Pioneers Homemakers Club, Senior Citizens, and Pinochle Club. Mary enjoyed reading, crocheting, visiting, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, sewing, quilting, and writing letters. She is survived by: one daughter, Dianne Kirschman, Mesa, Ariz. ; one son, James (Kay) Kirschman of Racine, Wis. ; five grandchildren, Kirk (Karen) Hanson, Chad (Cheryl) Hanson, Richard (Jan) Kirschman, Marsha (Adam) Joyce and Jacalyn (Nate) Mollison; six great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren, one niece, Margo Gutensohn (Doug) Tait of Henderson, Nev. ; one nephew, Mark Gutensohn, of Las Vegas, Nev and one great niece, Alisha (Will) Porter, Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Edward Kirschman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Georgia Gutensohn and Drs. Max and Olwen Gutensohn.
