Mary was born April 21, 1935 in Dickinson, the daughter of Louis and Lois (Sargiano) Lupo. Growing up she attended school in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson Central High School. Following high school she met and married her high school sweetheart, Edwin J. Kostelecky on May 7, 1956 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. They were blessed with four children, Doug, Debbie, Suzie and Bobbi, who they proudly raised together. The family moved to Watford City for a short time and later moved back to their lifetime home in Dickinson. Mary and Eddie enjoyed time together dancing, playing cards (especially pinochle), and bowling. Mary worked as a secretary for many years with Credit Bureau and later for American State Bank, retiring in 2001. Upon retirement, she took on a part-time job at Berg Elementary working in the kitchen; she loved to be around children.
