Mary Meduna

A Funeral Mass for Mary Meduna, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.


Visitation for Mary will take place from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 6:00 P.M.


Mary passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson, ND.


Mary Young was born June 14, 1926 to William and Florence (Kimber) Young in Huston, ID. She grew up and attended high school in Idaho graduating in 1943. After graduating, she started working in the factory for Boeing where she met her future husband, William Meduna. The two were united in marriage on January 19, 1944 in Seattle, Washington. In April of 1944 they moved to Dickinson to be closer to family. They were blessed with 8 children; Marilyn, Jim, Robert, William, June, Alena, Melvin, and Donna.


After her husband passed away in 1994, Mary enjoyed singing with the group “The Happy Sing Alongs” where she would go around to the local nursing homes and sing for the residents. She also enjoyed working in the garden, and was devoted to her weekly holy hour at St. Patrick’s in Dickinson.


Mary is survived by her sons, Jim (Becky) of Dickinson, Robert (Shirley) of Olatha, KS, William (Lydia) of Dickinson, Melvin (Dorothy) of Dickinson; daughters, Marilyn (Clarence) Heinrich of Dickinson, June (Jerry) Gibbons of Frazee, MN, Alena (Richard) Praus of Fargo, Donna (Dave) Frenzel of New Hradec; 23 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; all of her siblings; 3 grandsons; and 1 great-grandson.
