Mary Nesse

Graveside rites for Mary Ann Nesse, 81 of Mesa, AZ, will be 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the Hettinger Cemetery in Hettinger, ND. Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel of Dickinson is in charge of the arrangements. Mary Ann passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Banner Mesa Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. She was born on March 20, 1923 the only daughter of Fannie and Fred Harvey. Mary Ann grew up in Missouri, Oklahoma and finally California. It was there that she met Art Nesse. They dated for 10 years before they were married in 1968. When her granddaughter asked why they didn?t get married sooner, she said that they never ?got along? long enough. They lived in California where Mary Ann was a hairdresser. In 1978 they moved to Mesa where she has resided ever since. They had been married for 29 years when Art passed away in 1997. They had no children together but Art had a son, Larry. Along with his wife, Paulette and their children: Rob, John and Marnie, they became her children and grandchildren. Mary Ann was a kind, generous and very loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor. ?Grandma? was not a title that she welcomed or embraced in the beginning but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren became her greatest joy in life. Survivors include her son, Larry (Paulette) Merwin, Baker, MT; grandchildren: Rob (Susie) Merwin, Tempe, AZ, John (Kristin) Merwin, Mesa, AZ and Marnie (Matt) Moberg, Riverbank, CA; great-grandchildren: Trisha Chamberlin, Saylor, Kayli, Sutton and Brooklyn Merwin; and great-great grandchildren, Chandler and Dylan Chamberlin.
