Mary Novotny, 85, Dickinson, died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. James Braaten celebrating. Interment will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 2 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Tuesday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p. m. Mary Steffan was born August 13, 1918, to Vincent and Pauline (Hibl) Steffan. She married Andrew Novotny on June 19, 1946, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, New Hradec. They farmed until 1957, when they moved to Dickinson. Mary was employed as a nurse?s aide at St. Joseph?s Hospital, was head cook at St. Wenceslaus School and worked at Baker Boy Bakery. Andy died April 17, 1999. Mary entered St. Benedict?s Health Center in 2001. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family. Mary is survived by: four sons, Al (Norma), Coon Rapids, Minn. , Richard (Marlene), Dickinson, Arnie (Carol), Bloomington, Minn. and Jerry (Liz), Bloomington, Minn. ; daughter, Bernadette Nevins, Sidney, Mont. ; 10 grandchildren; Michael Nevins and DeAnn Nevins-Hammer, Eric and Tami Novotny, Shane and Meggan Novotny, Melinda Faulhaber and Jamie Novotny and Andrew and Sarah Novotny; nine great-grandchildren, Logan and Riley Hammer, Kayla, Jessie and Chelsie Nevins and Hannah and Dylan Hogue, Madison and Katrina Faulhaber; two sisters, Hattie Haller, Eugene, Ore. and Dagmar (Robert) Murphy, Dickinson; three brothers, Mansvetus (Hattie) Steffan, James (Margaret) Steffan and Stanley (Marlene) Steffan, all of Dickinson; two sisters-in-law, Georgina Steffan and Mary Ann Steffan, both of Dickinson. She was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, one son-in-law, Wayne Nevins; two brothers, Sylvan and Vincent Steffan and two sisters, Dorothy (Tuhy) O?Connor and Cecilia Tuhy; and three brothers-in-law, Louie Haller, Laudie Tuhy and Albert Tuhy.
