Mary passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at Fallon Medical Complex.
Mary Carmen Reed was born December 21, 1927 in Elcanto, Mexico to Emilio and Teodosia Vasquez. Mary and her ten siblings grew up and were educated in Mexico. She met and then married James Reed May 2, 1956 in Mexico. They lived at ElCentro, California for many years then moved to Nevada for seven years. In 1994, they James and Mary moved to Baker, MT to be closer to their daughter Sandra and her family. She remained in Baker until her passing.
Mary lived for her family and her faith. Her favorite place was her kitchen and cooking for her family gave her so much pleasure. Tortillas were one of her specialties, turned out perfect every time from the recipe in her head. Mary loved to show her family and friends how to make tamales at various gatherings. After long hours of study she aced the test to become a US citizen in 1978. She was so proud of this achievement.
Mary will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind, daughter, Sandra (John) Lizer of Baker, MT; son, Jim (Tammy Dyer) Reed of Spearfish, SD; brother, Joaquin Vasquez of Baha, CA; grandchildren, Jessica (Ben) Smith, Tim (Debra) Reed, Jerry O’Neal, Stephanie McWilliams, Ernest (Haley Morse) Lizer, Jimmy Reed Giodo, Jamie (Jacob) Giodo; 15 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Emilio Vasques who lived to be 106, husband, James Reed, son, Mike Reed; great grandson, Nikolai Argo; numerous siblings.
