Funeral Services for Mary Shypkoski, 100, of Dickinson will be 1:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Cemetery in Fairfield.
Visitation for Mary will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm.
Mary passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at St. Luke's Nursing Home in Dickinson.
Mary (Symionow) Shypkoski was born August 28, 1924 on the family homestead in Billings County, North Dakota, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Kordonowy) Symionow. Raised on the family farmstead, Mary graduated from Medora High School on May 28, 1942.
Mary married John M. Shypkoski on January 30, 1942. Mary and John operated a farm and ranch northeast of Belfield ND. They shared a great love of animals, both domestic and wild. In addition to her love of animals, Mary enjoyed drawing and painting. After John’s passing, Mary moved to Dickinson, ND, where she lived for the remainder of her days.
Mary is survived by her siblings, Sister Bernadine Symionow in Sloatsberg, New York, Pete (Helen) Symionow of Hermiston, Oregon, Margaret Koffler of Dickinson, North Dakota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Andrew and Anna, brothers George, Nick, Steve, and William and sisters Kay, Jenny, Agnes, Dorothy, Sister Anisia and infant sister Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St, Demetrius Church of Belfield, ND or the Ukrainian Cultural Institute in Dickinson, ND.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to St. Luke’s Nursing Home for giving Mary 10 years of wonderful care.
