Mary passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.
Mary was born to Joseph and Veronica (Lampl) Wegh on October 9, 1932. Growing up, she attended school, graduating from Dickinson High School. One day while roller skating at the rink in Bagdad, she met Robert G. Zander, Jr. Mary married Robert on September 14, 1949. Following their marriage, they moved to the Zander family dairy farm south of Dickinson, where they lived until 1952. During this time, their marriage was blessed with two children, Peggy and Kenneth. After three years on that farm, they moved into Dickinson where Bob and Mary made Dickinson their permanent home. The family grew with son, Craig in 1954 and Keith, in 1956 and their family of six was complete. Mary began working out of the home in 1963 as a dental assistant for Dr. Louis Hagen, later Dr. Larry Oakes, and lastly Dr. Dale Hansen through 1978, when she retired.
Mary loved to spend time in her garden; canning and sharing its produce, playing bridge, and bowling in different leagues. She enjoyed embroidering and hand quilting for many years and gifting the quilts to the grandchildren. Mary also enjoyed reading throughout the years. She would often be seen with her dog, Wilson who was a constant companion for 13 years. Mary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and assisted the Church Circle with funeral lunches. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy and she stayed very involved with them. Mary will be forever loved and dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Benedicts Health for the loving care they provided.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Larry) Hoge of Bismarck; her sons, Keith (Vicky) Zander, Craig (Kathy) Zander, and Ken (Chris) Zander all of Dickinson; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elnora Zander; and brother-in-law, Gordon Zander.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Veronica Wegh; husband, Bob; daughter-in-law, Jodi Zander; brother, Johnny Wegh; sisters, Anna Riesinger and Catherine Kupperion.
Memorials in Mary’s name may be given to the St. John Trust Fund, 146 6 Ave W, Dickinson, ND 58601.Zander Mary
