Funeral Mass for Mathias Maershbecker, Jr, 85 of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jeff Zwack, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Ann?s Cemetery in Hebron. Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2006 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Mathias passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. He was born on March 14, 1921 the son of Mathias and Mary (Schneider) Maershbecker Sr. on the family homestead in Dunn County. Matt attended grade schools and later returned to the homestead where he worked with his father. Mathias was married to Elsie Schulz in the St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Richardton on September 12, 1945. Matt and Elsie eventually bought the homestead were the ranched and raised, Ann, Beverly, Harold, Sharon, Amy, Lois, Patricia and Natalie. They farmed until 1991 when Matt and Elsie moved into Dickinson and have made their home since. Matt enjoyed wood working making many tables, chairs and nick-nacks. He also enjoyed fishing and playing pinnacle. Matt?s special love was for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Matt was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and past member of St. Ann?s Catholic Church in Hebron. Survivors include, his wife, Elsie, Dickinson, a son, Harold (Sharon) Maershbecker, New England, ND; seven daughters, Ann (Dennis) Riedlinger, Crookstone, MN, Beverly (Robert) Streifel, Wing, ND, Sharon (Roy) Romanyshyn, Dickinson, Amy (Jeff) Kooren, Gillette, WY, Lois Salveson, Bismarck, ND, Patricia (Terry) Tomchuk, Dickinson, Natalie (Ronald) Salveson, Forrest Lake, MN; a sister, Anna Funk, Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Elizabeth Schaffer and Clara Mugglie; two grandchildren, Denise Sorenson and Shane Kooren
