Mathilda H. Kessel, 96, Dickinson, formerly of Belfield, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Shannon Lucht celebrating. Interment will be in St. Bernard?s Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be Monday from 9 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, from 1 p. m. to 1:30 p. m. at St. Benedict?s Health Center, from 2 p. m. to 3 p. m. at Price-Murphy Funeral Home and will continue at the church in Belfield at 4 p. m. The Catholic Daughters will lead rosary at 6:30 p. m. Monday, at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield, followed by a prayer service lead by Fr. Shannon Lucht. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Mathilda H. Hutzenbiler was born December 30, 1908, in Stark County, North Dakota to Louis and Elizabeth (Messer) Hutzenbiler. She married Frank M. Kessel on January 15, 1935, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Gaylord, ND. Together they farmed 13 miles northeast of Belfield. They moved into Belfield to a new home in 1960. Frank died April 29, 1961. Mathilda entered St. Benedict?s Health Center in March of 1997. Mathilda was a member of Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, St. Regina?s Guild, Belfield Senior Citizens, Birthday Club and St. Bernard?s Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, flower gardening, baking bread, playing cards and bingo and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her: children, Elizabeth (Dennis) Foy, White Fox, Sask. , Canada, Leo (Brenda Grisham) Kessel, Cincinnati, Ohio, Ann Staley, Arvada, CO, Albert (Anita) Kessel, Fairfield, ND, David Kessel, Lander, WY, Patrick (Shirley) Kessel, Evanston, WY, Steven (Elaine) Kessel, Belfield and Paul (Mildred) Kessel, Belfield; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Tony (Marion) Martin, Burlingame, CA, Leo (Liza) Hutzenbiler, Chesapeake, VA, Louie Hutzenbiler, Anaconda, MT, Ann (Tony) Heidt, Dickinson, Mary (Don) Meschke, Puyallup, WA, Martha Hutzenbiler, Belfield, Mary Zacher, Belfield and Elsie Kilzer, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her: parents; husband; five grandchildren; one great grandson; three sisters, Louise Kessel, Elizabeth Martian and Katherine Kessel and four brothers, Vincent, Paul, Joseph and Matthias Hutzenbiler. Memorials are preferred to: Elder Care, PO Box 629, Dickinson, ND 58601.
