Melvin Frank Weinschrott left this earth, way too soon, on Friday December 23, 2022 at 3:43 p.m. in Wheat Ridge, Colorado with his loving girlfriend by his side. A little over one month after he felt stomach pain, the cancer had grown rapidly and was already taking over many organs. There was no chance for treatment.
Melvin was born February 9, 1958 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the fourth child of Frank Gregory Weinschrott and Delores Marie Dolajak. He lived, worked hard and played hard on the family dairy farm. He attended Dickinson High School, became a seismographer and married Debbie Wanner. Mel continued to play hard (it was the 70's) and work hard. He met his second wife, Connie Sherman when he moved to Worland. Although he had no children, he was Godfather to Daniel Weinschrott.
He successfully owned and operated Mel's Plumbing in Worland since 1991. Melvin was definitely work orientated, as his business and properties took up much of his time. Hard work was instilled in him from growing up on the family's German, Catholic, North Dakota prairie farm.
Mel enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and all the old westerns! He did not like to cook, but he enjoyed old muscle cars, new cars, fast cars, any cars. Just last year because of worsening COPD, he completely retired ending Mel's Plumbing. He thought he'd finally have more time to take vacations, enjoy...just enjoy.... but no one is guaranteed tomorrow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; baby brother, Frank Jr.; all grandparents (Weinschrott, Dolajak, Pachl and Grimm); three brothers-in-law: Savy Dutchak, Alan Brault, Jim Pope and two sisters-in-law, Shelly Nitchman and Twyla Weinschrott.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Justina Nelson, two brothers: Al Weinshrott (Dickinson, ND), Myron Weinshrott (Worland); five sisters: Linda Dutchak (Belfield, ND); Debbie Brault (Helena, MT); Carla Weinshrott (Dickinson, ND); Dolora (Steve) Mitchell (Carver, MN); Laura W (John) Scholin (Fargo, ND); six nephews, five nieces, four great-nephews and five great-nieces.
Melvin will be dearly missed by ALL his family and friends; he is the first of our siblings to get to go to heaven to see our parents.
