Melvin Lyle Wolenetz, 69, of Baker passed away on Friday, March 14, 2003 at the Deaconess Medical Center in Billings following a short illness. He was born on July 2, 1933 the son of Floyd and Sadie (Johnson) Wolenetz in Baker. He grew up and attended country school which was taught by his grandmother through the eighth grade. Melvin completed his schooling in Baker graduating from high school in 1951. He returned to the ranch where he worked with his father. Melvin was married to Janice Karch in Baker on June 3, 1960. Together they purchased his grandmother?s farm which they have added on over the years. Melvin was very active on the farm with the aid of his sons now joining him in the operation. He enjoyed hunting, attending auction sales and especially stopping by a restaurant for a cup of coffee to chat with a friend. Melvin enjoyed driving the semi and pulling the pup whether bringing in grain from the field or going to town with it. His special love was always shared with his wife, Janice, his boys and the grandchildren. Melvin actively attended the First Baptist Church of Baker. Survivors include, his wife, Janice, Baker; three sons, Kenneth (Shelli), Fergus Falls, MN, Randy (Rebecca) and Jeff both of Baker; a brother, Byron (Galina), Baker; seven grandchildren, Steven, Riley, Kaylee, Charli, Alissa, Jonathon and Cameron. His parents, a son, Douglas and a sister-in-law, Darlene preceded him in death. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm continuing on Tuesday, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Stevenson Funeral Home and on Wednesday one hour prior to service time at the First Baptist Church. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements.
