Funeral Service for Merella Bublitz, 81 of Baker will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 2:00 p. m. at the American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastor Bruce Kolasch officiating. Burial will follow in Bonnievale Cemetery. Merella passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, February 10, 2005. She was born on November 28, 1923 in Haynes, North Dakota the daughter of Ben and Ella (Peterson) Egland. She grew up and attended schools in the Hettinger area; graduating from Hettinger High School in 1942. On March 28, 1943 Merella was married to Vern Bublitz on the family farm near Haynes, ND. Together they moved to Baker in April of 1945where they lived and raised their family. Over the years Merella worked as a clerk for Eileks and JC Penney clothing stores. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, playing bridge and especially going to Friday morning coffee with her friend?s. Merella was fortunate to have many good friends and neighbors. She was an excellent cook and anyone that stopped by enjoyed her wonderful baked goodies. Merella?s special love was for her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and The Pink Ladies. Survivors include, husband, Vern, Baker; a daughter, Sylvia (Jerry) Landa, Boyes, MT; two brothers, Robert Egland, Lemmon, SD and Berrnar (Dagmor) Egland, Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Steven Lindstrom, Miles City, Nicole (Greg) Wheeler, Baker Julie (Rob) Townsend, Dickinson, ND; and Daniel (Chandra) Bublitz, Gillette, WY; three great grandchildren: Kaylin and Quentin Wheeler and Kyra Townsend. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Dwight in 1990.
