Mescal Eunice Burch was born on January 3, 1918, a daughter of Carl Ghaston and Lola Zelzo (Ewalt) Burch in the Ridgway Community in Carter County, Montana. Mex grew up on the family ranch and attended Carter County Schools. Following her completion of high school, Mex met and married Earl Townsend. To this union a son Carl Godfrey ?Pat? was born. The couple would eventually divorce. Several years later while in California, Mex met Acie Ross Greer and the two were married on March 27, 1948 in Las Vegas, NV. In the early 1950?s the family moved to the Billings area where Mex attended college. In 1955, she and Acie and their children moved to Washington State and eventually onto California where they would make their home. Mex had a passion for teaching and continued her education as well. Eventually she would earn her Doctorate in Education, specializing in Special Education. Mex retired after devoting 45 years of her life to public education. Mex and Acie enjoyed their time with family, dancing, church and other social events. One of Mex and Acie?s fondest times was a cruise they took with their daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Jay before Acie?s death in 1995. Mex is survived by her daughter, Shannon (James ?Jay?) Gardner, Sonoma, CA; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Crystal Palmer, Kennedy, TX and June Johnson, Columbus, OH; and a daughter-in-law, Marie Townsend and numerous nieces and nephews.
