A funeral service for Michael Carmean, 59, Dickinson, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastor William Bedsole officiating. Military Rites will be presented by the Dickinson American Legion Post #3 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Friday April 6, 2018 at the funeral home.
Michael passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
Michael was born July 1, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Milford and Helen Carmean. He grew up in Arlington Heights, IL, the youngest of five children. Michael attended school in the Arlington Heights area and after graduation, enlisted in the US Navy. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Florida. It was there that he met and married Cindy LaTour. The couple was blessed with five children. The couple lived in several areas around the country, making stops in Alaska, Georgia, New Mexico, Virginia, and most recently North Dakota.
In his younger days, Michael worked as a barber, spent time as a cook, and worked in the mental health field. While living in North Dakota, he worked in the oilfield. Michael loved old movies, especially “It’s A Wonderful Life” and old Westerns. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing new parts of the country. Michael had a passion for cooking and shopping for dinner. He was well known for his pastries. Michael loved his dogs and his children.
Michael is survived by his wife, Cynthia; children, Ryan (Hayden) Carmean of Peniscola, FL, Krystopher Carmean of South Carolina, Cyndi-Lu Carmean of Ellijay, GA, Trystan Carmean of Dickinson, and Michayla of Dickinson; two grandchildren, Mary and Bradley Schmidt; and siblings, Robert Carmean of IL, Kathy Young of FL, Judy Shapiro of FL, and Colleen Carmean of WA.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Helen Carmean.
