Funeral services for Michael “Mike” Lovec, 68, of Baker, will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Ekalaka, MT. Burial will follow in Beaver Lodge Cemetery.


Visitation for Mike will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mike passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Fallon Medical Complex.


Michael George Lovec was born December 2, 1948 to Emil and Eula (Cunningham) Lovec in Baker, MT. He grew up in Mill Iron and attended country school before graduating from Carter County High School. He then enlisted into the Air Force and served from 1967 to 1971 when he was honorably discharged. Upon returning from the Vietnam War, Mike moved to Rapid City, SD for a short period of time. During this time he married Letta McGaa. To this union two children were born: Emil Ray and Michael Garrett. They moved to Baker, MT and later divorced. Mike worked for Earl Collins Construction until he began working at MDU/WBI in 1977. Mike met Jan Oelke and the two were married in 1995 on April Fools Day. They have made Baker their home ever since.   Mike continued to work at WBI until his retirement in 2005.


Mike enjoyed woodworking, bowling, attending rodeos, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. He also loved wandering around the fields and following the Custer Trail with his brother-in-law Sherry Farwell. Mike will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and all that knew and loved him.


Mike is survived by his wife, Jan Lovec; sons, Emil (Kelli) Lovec, Mike (Jodi) Lovec; step-son, Michael (Mindi) Menger; step-daughter, Stacy (Kelly) Kinsey; grandchildren, Payton, Rylie, Makayla, Braelynn, Landon, Adison, Sloan, Briggs; brother, Steve (Tricia) Lovec; sisters, Judy (Sherry) Farwell, Mary (Gary) Biershank, Patricia (Mark) Robinson, Carla (Phil) Boyer, Emily (Darrel) Gentry, Sandra (Tim) Tooke; and numerous nieces and nephews and his special companion, Max, his dog.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Eula Lovec.
