Funeral Service for Mabel A. ?Mickey? Tunby, 79, of Baker, MT will be at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT with Pastors Bruce & Reba Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Tuesday, August 11th, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. Mickey passed away on Friday evening, August 7, 2009, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Mickey Tunby was born September 27, 1929 in Perham, MN, the daughter of August and Martha (Schmidt) Mischke of Perham. She attended country grade schools, graduated from Perham High School in 1947; then attended a year of college in the nursing program at Montana State College, Bozeman, Mt. In 1949 she married Walter Roe of Kokomo, IN. He passed away in 1961. One daughter Deborah was born to this union, while living in Kokomo she worked at the Delco Radio Division of General Motors. By a chance meeting through Marie Tunby at nurse?s school, Mickey and Maurice began corresponding. A year long correspondence ended with a blessed union on June 13, 1964. Mickey and Debbie joined Maurice on the ranch at Cabin Creek where they made their home for the next 45 years. A son, Randy, blessed the family in 1966. Mickey enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to follow her children in their activities. Mickey loved all children in the church and community. She enjoyed watching them grow and share in their lives. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school for 12 years, served as president of the Ester circle where she held various offices. The church kitchen was a passion for Mickey; she worked to keep the kitchen in working order. Mickey was a great historian on the American Lutheran Church, she could tell you about the various pastors and church history. She was an Associate member of the Hospital auxiliary for a short time, a member of the Fallon Creek Cattlewomen and the Plevna Senior Center. She served on the Council of Aging committee. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing, arts & crafts, raising house plants and playing cards. She and Maurice enjoyed several sight seeing tours in the states, plus a seven country tour in Europe. Mickey always looked forward to being a grandmother and was blessed with two grandchildren, Abby and Zane. She loved to have her grandchildren near by, stopping in for a cookie, or needing help on a project. The last few years Mickey and Maurice made sure they attended the many activities of Abby and Zane always lending love and support. Mickey is survived by her husband of 45 years, Maurice; son Randy (Amanda), grandchildren Abigail and Zane. One sister-in-law Bunny Mischke of West Fargo, ND Maurice?s family; Roy Tunby of Bozeman, Mt; Gordon (Helen) Tunby of Minneapolis, MN Rolph Tunby of Plevna, Mt, Helen (Delmar) Jensen of Baker MT, Elphie Wood of Billings, MT, Marie Moe of Spokane, WA, and brother-in-law DuWayne Johnson of Hinsdale MT. Numerous nieces, nephews, great and great, great nieces and nephews along with special friends and neighbors helped celebrate Mickey?s life. Preceding her in death were her parents , her daughter Deborah, four brothers; Lester (Mary) Mischke of Perham, MN; Erwin (Mabel) of Leonard ND; Raymond (Barbara) of Superior WI; and Roland of West Fargo ND three sisters; Ester (Walter) Schumm of Billings, MT; Elsie (Lyle) Clark of Spokane, WA; and Irene (George) Walter of Perham, MN; also two brothers John and Marvin and two sisters, Janet and Betty in infancy, and sister-in-law Edith Johnson of Hinsdale, MT.
