Funeral Services for Mike McCabe are 2:00 p. m. Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Mike McCabe 78 of Dickinson passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Mike was born on June 18, 1926 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the son of Marc and Grace VanHoy McCabe. Mike grew up and attended schools in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1945. He then attended Bismarck Junior College and studied journalism, where he was a sports editor for the firstt Bismarck Junior college paper. Mike later began working for a brick laying company. On September 4, 1954 Mike married Jo Brunelle in Mandan. In 1958 the family moved to Dickinson where they have made their home since. Along with brick laying, Mike taught for the International Masonry Union of Brick layers in Bismarck. Throughout his career he worked for Kolling and Kolling and Olheiser Masonry. He was a Golden Member of the FOE 2328 Eagles Club of Dickinson, and a Life Member of the Brick Layers and Allied Craft Workers Union. Mike was also a member of the American Legion Baseball Association and was an avid fan, and a ticket-taker for all of the Legion Games. He also donated many hours for the pancake breakfasts and all charities at the Eagles Club. Mike enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Eagles and was a lifetime fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, now the Los Angeles Dodgers, and was considered Dodger Blue through and through. Mike is survived by five daughters: Kelly (Steve) Reiniger of Felton, CA; Maureen (Augie) Werner of Bismarck, ND; Kari (Marvin) Svihl of New Hradec, ND; Shari (Maynard) Schwindt, and Tracey McCabe both of Dickinson; ten sons: Michael of Mandan; Patrick McCabe, James McCabe (Doug Noaeill) all of Anchorage, AK, Terry (Joyce) McCabe, Laingsburg, MI, Kevin (Ruth) McCabe, Dickinson, Robert (Patricia) McCabe, Dickinson, William (Caroline) McCabe, St. Charles, MN, Daniel (Suzy) McCabe, Dickinson, Donald McCabe, San Francisco, CA and Chad McCabe, San Jose, CA; 21 grandchildren: Scott, Sarah, Dusty, Bryan, Travis, Clayton, Rollie, Savanna, Amanda, Justin, Melissa, Cody, Katie, Rachel, Holly, Charles, Amy, Elisabeth, William, Grace and Parker; a great-granddaughter, Kithia; two brothers: John McCabe, Dilworth, MN, Marc ?Dan? (Hannah) McCabe, Goldendale, WA; one sister: Grace (Floyd) Thompson, Costa Mesa, CA; four sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Ray) Mulske, Mandan, ND, Margaret Mallmend, Glendive, MT, Ruby McCabe, Bismarck, ND and Mickey (Art) Tokach, Mandan, ND; and a brother-in-law, Richard Brunelle, Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jo; his parents; one infant son: John; one infant granddaughter, Sara; three brothers: Richard, Ray, and Patrick; one sister-in-law, Eileen Brunelle and one brother-in-law: Bill Brunelle.
