Mildred Cross, 90, New England, died Saturday, January 25, 2003, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services will be 1 p. m. , Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, with Pastor Janel Kolar and Pastor Donna Dohrmann officiating. Interment will be in Dickinson Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. Tuesday, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Mildred Gerbig was born August 31, 1912, in Bowman, North Dakota to George and Imogene (Hanson) Gerbig. She attended school in Billings County, Model High School in Dickinson and beauty college in Bismarck. After completing school she owned and operated a beauty salon in Belfield for several years. She married Lt. Norman W. Cross at A. A. F. Gunnery School Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 26, 1942. They lived in Nevada and Arizona while Norman was in the US Army. They returned to North Dakota and moved to New England in 1946, when Norman became manager of the Slope Electric Co-op. Norman died April 15, 1980. Mildred was an active member of the First Congregational Church, New England Senior Citizens, charter member of the Jolly Eight Homemakers Club, and fifty-year member of the Cannonball Chapter O. E. S. Mildred was a resident of St. Benedict?s for the past two and one half years. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Gary) Gussey, New England; sons, Donald (Cindy) Cross, Mandan and David (Bev) Cross, Bismarck; sister, Mary Juntunen, Bowman; brother, Morris (Ella) Gerbig, Amidon; sister-in-law, Effie Gerbig, Belfield; grandchildren, Sarah (Shawn) Weishaar, Bill Gussey, Steven Gussey, Nicole Cross, Kyle Cross, Jennifer (Scott) Brahos and Sommer (Brian) Watson; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Lauren and Madison Weishaar and Macy Brahos and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; brother, John Gerbig and sister, Genevive Gerbig.
