A Funeral Mass for Mildred Hegel-Heinle, 88, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. A St. Ann’s Rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery.


Visitation for Mildred will be Tuesday, March 24, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary & Vigil service being held at 5:00 p.m. Rosary will be Led by Sister M. Eugene Braun and Vigil led by Deacon Al Schwindt.


Mildred passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson following a short battle with cancer.


Mildred Braun was born December 31, 1923 in Stark County, the daughter of Peter and Bridget (Roeder) Braun. She grew up on the family farm south of Dickinson and attended country school before graduating in 1942 from St. Pius High School in Scheffield. Mildred then attended Capital Commercial College in Bismarck and Dickinson State College. In November of 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to George Hegel. They lived in Sheffield and Dickinson raising their four children, Darwin, Dennis, Al & Debbie. Mildred worked for S & L Department Store for 20 years along with owning and operating Hegel Apartments. George died in 1975. In 1979, she married Walt Heinle. They spent time in Arizona, and many days camping with her grandchildren. Walt passed away in 1995. Mildred was extremely active with her volunteer work, putting in many hours a week with the House of Manna for over 20 years, along with Germans from Russia & St. Benedicts Health Center. She had a very close group of friends with whom she shared her travels, card playing and many dinners. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mildred was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Dickinson.


Mildred is survived by her sons, Darwin (Pam) Hegel of Palm Desert, CA, Dennis (JoAnn) Hegel of Fargo, ND, Al (Nancy) Hegel of Albany, OR; son-in-law, Wayne (Amy) Jahner, Dickinson, ND; 8-grandchildren, Amy McMahan, Bismarck, ND, Adam Hegel, Dickinson, ND, Ryan Hegel, Horace, ND, Scott Hegel, Chanhassen, MN, Sarah Hegel, San Tan Valley, AZ, Jessica (Anthony) Gonzalez, Fort Mohave, AZ, Jarvis (Alex) Jahner, Dickinson, Justin (Mandy) Jahner, Bismarck, ND and nine great-grandchildren; step-children, Brian (Nancy) Heinle, Rice, MN, Deb Heinle, Washburn, ND and Nancy (LeeWayne) Johnson, Tioga, ND; three sisters, Florence (Dick) Voris, Lake Havasu, AZ, Laverne Rios, Riverside, CA and Sister M. Eugene Braun, Good Council Hill, Mankato, MN; and a sister-in-law, Martha Braun, Dickinson, ND.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Bridget and Pete Braun; husbands, George Hegel and Walter Heinle; daughter, Deborah Jahner; brothers, Ernest, Henry, Eugene and Louie Braun.


Memorial may be made to Dickinson State College Theater Department and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
