Mildred passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson, this was the same day that her husband, Erwin passed away in 1996.

Mildred Ida was born September 2, 1926 in Dickinson, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Bernhardt) Magelky.  She lived with her family on a farm north of Taylor before they moved to Dickinson in 1944.  Mildred graduated from Taylor High School and following graduation she moved to Dickinson to work for First National Bank.  On November 6, 1945 Mildred married Erwin Hoff in Dickinson.  To this marriage, four children were born.  They moved to the family farm south of Richardton where Erwin grew up.  Together they ran a small dairy operation alongside some grain farming.  Erwin passed away in 1996.  Mildred was a caring, giving, loving and devoted lady.  She loved flower gardening, her specialty was pink and white carnations.  She enjoyed crocheting afghans, sewing, baking, reading (always reading the Dickinson Press over and over), and playing cards.  Mildred had a special love for birds, dogs and her cat, Morgan.  She will be remembered as a good and faithful servant, who had a strong faith and beautiful integrity. She touched many lives with her gentle nature and was a member of Christian Mothers.  Mildred dearly enjoyed time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  She will be forever loved and dearly missed.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Prace) Ramsdell of Minot; sons, James (Mary Ann) Hoff of Arvilla, ND; Harvey (Janal) Hoff of Richardton; sisters, Helen Marsh of Dickinson, Alice Paulson of Colorado Springs, CO; son-in-law, Tim Schmidt of West Fargo, ND; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anna Magelky; husband, Erwin (1996); daughter, Gloria Schmidt; and sister, Elsie Monson.
