Funeral Mass for Mildred I. Schmidt Verndale, MN formerly of Dickinson will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Bertha, MN with the Rev. Dan Walz celebrating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Local arrangements and condolences are provided by Stevenson Funeral Home of Dickinson. Mildred I. Schmidt, age 76, passed-away at Golden Living Center in Henning, Minnesota, on March 3, 2008. She was born to John X. and Catherine Dukart on August 6, 1931 in Dickinson, North Dakota. Mildred was united in marriage to Florian P. Schmidt on September 27, 1949 in Dickinson. As a homemaker and mother she moved from Dickinson in 1962 with her husband and six children to start farming south of Verndale. She was an active member of the America Legion Auxiliary in Verndale, the VFW Auxiliary in Aldrich, Christian Mother’s and the Wadena Quilt Club. She enjoyed being a Pink Lady volunteer, quilting, gardening, crocheting and cooking. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Florian; sons, Clarence “Clyde” (Rita) Schmidt of Hewitt, Keith (Pam) Schmidt of Sebeka, Virgil (Jodie) Schmidt, Perry Schmidt all of Verndale, and Harlan (Kate) Schmidt of Osseo; daughters, Geraldine (Steve) Cottrell of Frazee, Kathie (Terry) Davis of Ottertail, Marlene (Dale) Campbell of Verndale, and Pam (Jim) Rach of Brooten; 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerome Dukart of Minneapolis, Norman Dukart, and Herman Dukart, both of Dickinson, ND.,Christ Dukart of South Heart, ND., and Paul Dukart of Fargo, ND. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30AM on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bertha with Father Dan Walz as celebrant. Interment was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
