Funeral Mass for Mildred “Mitzi” Streitmatter, 87 of Glen Ullin will be 10:30 a.m., CDT, Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation for Mitzi will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., CDT, Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the church with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 5:30 p.m., CDT
Mitzi passed away, Friday, September 13, 2019 at St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.
Mildred was born on May 30, 1932 in Oliver County, the daughter of Nicolaus and Helen (Martin) Weiand. She grew up on the family farm SE of Beulah, attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and was a graduate of Glen Ullin High School. Following graduation she worked as a secretary for Ted Boutrous Law Firm. Mitzi married Arthur “Butch” Streitmatter on June 10, 1953 in Glen Ullin. Together they made their home in Glen Ullin were they raised their children, Kent, LeeAnn and Jill. Mitzi returned to work at Boutrous and Halpern Law Firm after her children were in school and worked there for over 37 years. Mitzi was a member of the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers, Lioness Club and volunteered for many years at the Marion Manor Health Care Center. She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. Mitzi was known for her gift of crocheting. She made many baptismal gowns, doilies and table cloths that will forever be treasured. Mitzi was a kind and gentle soul and everyone who knew her loved her dearly. Her faith was very important to her and she was a rosary leader for many years. Family meant everything to Mitzi and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren whenever possible.
Mitzi is survived by her children; Kent (Maria) Streitmatter of Miles City; daughters; LeeAnn Streitmatter of Glen Ullin and Jill (Darin)Rogers of Missoula, MT; sister, Erma Mosbrucker of Dickinson; brother; Glenn Weiand of Grafton, ND; grandchildren; Ricco Streitmatter, Mariah Rogers and Lee Rogers; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Butch; parents, Nicolaus & Helen Weiand; sister; Leona Morman; infant siblings, Rachel, Kenneth & Lester.
