Funeral Mass for Minnie Gress, 93, of Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, ND, with Father Boniface Muggli, OSB, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Richardton, ND.
Visitation for Minnie will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a Rosary and Prayer Service being held at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, September 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton with a Rosary and Prayer Service being held at 8:00 p.m.
Minnie passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Touchmark Retirement Community in Bismarck, ND.
Minnie Hauck was born November 22, 1918 in Haynes ND, the daughter of Mike and Othelia (Fleckenstein) Hauck. She was raised north of Richardton and attended country school. On October 11, 1937, she married Leo Gress at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. They farmed and ranched north of Richardton on the Gress homestead. In 1986, they moved to Dickinson and resided there for nineteen years. In 2005, Minnie moved to Mandan to be close to her family. In 2010, she moved to Touchmark Retirement Community where she remained until her death. Minnie was very crafty and talented. She was a great cook and baker. She always enjoyed playing cards and taught her grandchildren and great grandchildren various games. She was always ready to travel enjoying many trips throughout the country or just going to see her family. Dancing was always an enjoyable pastime with their many friends. Minnie was a lifelong member of Christian Mothers Society.
Minnie is survived by one son, Kenneth Gress of Minot, ND; two daughters, Charlene (Dave) Schmaltz, Bismarck, ND, and Leone (Larry) Roth, Bismarck, ND; Grandchildren Keith (Wendy) Schmaltz,; Staci (Tim) Berg; Kelly (Jill) Gress; Dena (Rob Thompson); Leah (Leon) Emmil; Lance (Natalia) Roth. Great Grandchildren Shayla, Sheradyn and Braxtyn Schmaltz; Jacob and Hunter Berg; Karter and Kole Gress; Logan and Lucas Emmil; Landon Roth and two sisters Helen (Ted) Kubisiak, Rose Marie Hauck, one sister-in-law Millie Hauck and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Othelia Hauck; her husband, Leo Gress; and one brother, Adam Hauck.
