A Funeral Mass for Victoria “Vickie” Pirkl, 96, of Dickinson, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Visitation for Vickie will be 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home.
Vickie passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson.
Victoria Buresh was born December 3, 1916 in Dickinson, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Marsh) Buresh. She grew up and attended country school in Stark County. As a young girl, she helped on the family farm, caring for her younger siblings. Victoria was united in marriage to Laudie Pirkl on May 15, 1946 in Dickinson. To this union, three children, Gordon, Roland, and Karen were born. Together they raised their children in Dickinson. Vickie enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting. She loved to prepare meals and host friends and family in her home. She always had her door open for anyone. Many friends and family are enjoying her quilts and afghans today. Her specialty, “Grandma’s Cookies”, were looked forward to and enjoyed by everyone. Vickie’s prize possession was her family. Vickie was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Her faith was very important to her and she always said that was all she ever needed.
Vickie is survived by her sons, Gordon (Leslie) Pirkl of Dickinson and Roland (Janet) Pirkl of Grover Beach, CA; daughter, Karen Pirkl of Redding, CA; brother, Frank V. Buresh; sisters, Cecelia Black of Bismarck, Emma (Willard) Jaeger of Dickinson, Rose Sadowsky of Dickinson, and Clara Volesky of Helena, MT; sister-in-law, Gertrude Buresh of Dickinson; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Erin, Christopher “TJ”, Joshua and Zachary Pirkl; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Pirkl, Jaida Harden, Adam Pirkl and Dylan Pirkl.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Laudie J. Pirkl, brothers, William (Genevieve) Buresh and Tony Buresh; in-laws; Josie and Catherine Buresh, Harold Black, Henry Sadowsky and Robert Volesky.
In lieu of flowers a memorial may be given to the Garvin Hall Renovation c/o St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND.
